What is Tolvaptan (JINARC®)?

  • Tolvaptan (JINARC®) is indicated to slow the progression of cyst development and renal insufficiency of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) in adults with chronic kidney disease (CKD) at initiation of treatment with evidence of rapidly progressing disease.
  • It has not been determined whether Tolvaptan (JINARC®) is both safe & effective for children.

Who should not take Tolvaptan (JINARC®)?

Do not take Tolvaptan (JINARC®) if you:

have a history of liver problems*

*This excludes those with polycystic liver disease who have liver problems.

...

have high or low sodium levels

...

are allergic to Tolvaptan

...

cannot feel thirst or unable to drink

...

are dehydrated

...

are unable to urinate

How can I enroll in the Jinarc® RMP and purchase the medication?

Once prescribed, patients can call the ADPKD hotline to inquire and enroll in the mandatory safety monitoring program (Jinarc® RMP)

Requirements:

  1. Updated Tolvaptan (Jinarc®) prescription*
  2. Updated Liver Function Test (LFT) results*
    1. ✓ SGPT/ALT
    2. ✓ SGOT/AST
    3. ✓ Bilirubin

    *must be updated (dated within the last 30 days)
